Pudsey Pyjama Penny Measures

In Kenwyn Class we have been trying to understand measures of capacity a little better. 1l seems a lot and 10ml is hardly anything at all. We measured these amounts so we could visualise what it really looked like. Then as a challenge (and because it was Children in Need day) we did some investigating to see how many drops of water we could get to sit on a one pence piece. Some of us had ml on our pipettes and others simply counted the number of drops placed. Mrs Skewes was the champion with an amazing 99 drops of water on a one pence piece before it spilled over! (we are still deciding if it counts or not as she wasn’t wearing her pyjamas!) We repeated our investigation and some of us started thinking about averages.
