We love music here at Constantine School! Mrs Micklem leads music at our school and she is very passionate about the musical opportunities and experiences that children have.

Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity. A high- quality music education should engage and inspire pupils to develop a love of music and their talent as musicians, and so increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. As pupils progress, they should develop a critical engagement with music, performing and singing, creating and allowing them to compose, and to listen.

The school choir is run by Mrs Micklem who is passionate about children singing and enjoying music. To say she is enthusiastic is probably a gross understatement!

Our School loves to sing and by reading on you will realise this is no false claim…..!

The School Choir performs at different venues, and have performed in Truro Cathedral, Hall 4 Cornwall and the Eden Project.  We sing at every opportunity whether on school camps or on the bus to the Swimming Pool and have even sang at the Falmouth branch of Sainsbury’s! This year we even sang to Princess Anne when she visited our village and we  supported Will Keating (from the Oggymen) when he hosted two special concerts  at the Tolman Centre and The Poly, Falmouth.

Sing Up!

We were the first school in the County to be awarded the prestigious Platinum Singup Award, which was by nomination only, and consequently were asked to visit Pirate FM Radio Station to talk about it.  It was hard to stop talking about it!!  We were absolutely thrilled.

Every July at the end of summer term KS2 put on a spectacular musical.  For the past 5 or 6 years this has been performed in the local Tolmen Centre. In 2018, the children put on a wonderful performance of Oliver with a Twist!

We are lucky enough to have our own class set of Ukeleles. Mrs Micklem is very talented and enjoys teaching children how to play the ukulele! Sometimes the children are lucky enough to play alongside Constantine’s Uke Band!

Music Lessons

Some children have additional music lessons by specialist teachers, these have included drums, guitar and flute. Some of these lessons may need to be funded by families.
