Shinty 15 May 2015

Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 are all having training in the game of Shinty for the rest of the summer term. It is a Scottish 12-aside-game resembling hockey, played with curved sticks, taller goalposts and is derived from the Irish game of Hurling. Everyone one loved their first session where we all mastered the ‘ready position’ and zebedee jump! We can’t wait to attempt some ‘keepy-uppy’ and game situations once we have some more basic skills under our belts. We have been given permission to use our local recreation ground to train on which is great as this game requires more space than we have on the school field. We are using some of our PE Grant to fund this.
