Personal Survival 23 Jan 2015

Year 5 have been learning about the dangers associated with pools and open water and techniques for safety and survival when immersed for long periods of time. Pyjamas were essential and the children did a great job of swimming fully clothed. They also performed a range of entries, carried objects for a distance, trod water, called for help, huddled for ten minutes and demonstrated the H.E.L.P position. It wasn’t until they removed their clothes (tricky whist treading water out of your depth!) that they realised just how restricting they were. Check out Freddie’s perfect HELP position, the huddle by the group, Nathan’s straddle entry and the the before and after pictures.
