Penlee Lifeboat Disaster 9 Dec 2014

We have really enjoyed studying and writing newspaper reports based on the lifeboat disaster of 1981. The story was known worldwide and touched the hearts of many that Christmas. As Cornish folk it is important we remember and continue to tell the story of those brave men who selflessly went out on that treacherous night to save the lives of others who were in danger.
Martin Brockman came in to tell us all about it as he was ten and living in Mousehole at the time. His father (Nigel Brockman) went out on the lifeboat as the engineer that night and never returned along with 16 others whose lives were also lost to our seas. Martin brought in his fathers medal and also told us all about the history of the lifeboats in the West of our county. We never knew that the old lifeboats were rowed and dint have engines!
We are all very proud to be Cornish and help keep the memory of these brave men alive.
