Open water safety skills 29 Sep 2018

Year 6 did a great job today, learning new skills for entering open water, learning releases for when frightened or weak swimmers grab hold of you and also some towing and rescuing skills were practised. They were brilliant and really worked hard. I’m sure we have some more future beach and pool lifeguards here!

One ex pupil, Eyan Dungavel, is a local beach lifeguard with the RNLI. He has also just returned from Ireland where he competed in the European Surf Life Championships. As a Gylly team member he was also selected this year for the Cornwall, British and GB teams – fantastic.
