Lonesome Lobsters 4 Nov 2017

Year 4 visited the Lobster Hatchery in Padstow and it was brilliant. Did you know that lobsters have ten legs, can live up to 130 years and only die if they lose a fight or get caught?

They are fascinating animals with an exoskeleton, a gestation of mine months (just like humans) and females can carry up to 50,000 eggs. They grow by moulting and turn pink after this process- so have to hide well. As their new armour hardens they protect themselves from predators with their spikes.

After learning all about the work the Hatchery do, we enjoyed a small part of beautiful Padstow and went for a run. This meant we hadn’t missed our daily, thirty minutes activity and we ended up doing two miles on the Camal Trail.
