Helford Class Stain Glass Workshop 19 Jul 2011

Helford Class all took part in a Stain Glass Workshop where they all made a tile. The finishing results were amazing and they have all consequently been entered into the Village Garden Show in their own category. Frank Timmins a Stain Glass expert came in with a variety of glass works in many different styles that he has made and he explained the processes of working with glass. The children were so interested and amazed at what he had made it inspired them all to produce individual art pieces which they will eventually get to take home. As an experiement he also got the children to sign their name and decorate with special glass pens a small part of a large glass circle. He then made a plate which we now have in school and are very proud of. Frank Timmins did all the work and came well prepared and equipped for a class of 25 Year 2 and 3 children who were eager to have a go.  Frank was brilliant with the children and he worked at a suitable pace and had so much time for them, helping lay out their designs and cutting pieces of glass with and for them to create just the tile they had in mind.
