Blackberry picking ready for Harvest Festival 18 Sep 2013

The children from Helford and Lerryn Classes went on a village walk in search of blackberries. What an adventure! We ended up in the woods, footpaths, church yard, Recreation Ground and picked them from just about every hedge we passed. With some keen parents helping us out we were able to reach the biggest, juiciest blackberries that were often high up too!
This inspired some great work back at school including washing and preparing the fruit, weighing in maths, some creative writing in literacy, some sketching in art and best of all – jam making!
We made nine jars in total and after a quick tester tomorrow the rest will be labelled up and presented at our Harvest Festival on Monday in the church.
